Harley-Davidson Recall No.0613
I recieved a letter from harley davidson which title reads " Voluntary Emissions Recall Campaign" It's for certain 2008-2010 softail models and certain 2008-2010 XL and Dyna models. It reads as follows...
What is the issue?
Upon exposure to certain types of fuel formulations and/or high ambiant tempertures, the gas cap may develop a fitment issue between the female threads in the gas tank fill neck and the male threads on the gas cap. If this condition remains undetected, it may prevent a proper seal between the gas tank and the fuel cap assembly, potentially allowing fuel related emissions to vent through the cap.
I know here in Calif they have tough emission laws ..did anyone else get same letter?

I have an 09 FXDL, and got mine done a couple weeks ago....only takes like 5-10 minutes.
Mine got progressively worse until I couldn't fill the tank over halfway to keep gas from spilling out. Seals tight now..no leaks.
I would strongly recommend having it done, even if you aren't having any problems now. Mine was fine for the first few years, then once it started to give me problems, it kept getting harder and harder to seal the gas cap until it just wouldn't seal.

I got it for my 2010 heritage. I had to really press down hard on the cap while tightening it to keep it from leaking gas.
I popped into the dealer to talk to the service writer about something else and asked if they could take care of it while I was there, only took 5 minutes.
The problem is with the threads in the tank, and the way they fix it is there is a tool they screw into the tank that reshapes the threads and now I can just about spin my cap on and it seals tight.

What if I bought my bike used so therefore I probably won't get a notice. Can I just take it to my local HD and have them check it

I also got the recall letter a while back. Haven't been to the dealer yet to ask about it, but I did go to Harley website yesterday. I punched in my vin and it said no recalls for my bike. Does that mean my batch wasn't affected or should I still run by the dealer and check it out? 2011 wide glide.
