Default Motor vibration

I posted earlier about the 09 fat bob I purchased that I thought had a miss, but not so sure. I replaced gas(bike had been sitting for a year) but the bike still has a very bad vibration at idle and when letting off the throttle. At idle the whole front end shakes. Any ideas at what else to look at. this is my first harley and I'm a little lost at what to check. Thanks in advance

Get a service manual from your dealer and check every nut, bolt and screw on your bike. If you find a loose fastener, apply some blue loctite and torque it to spec.

Try running the idle screw up until it smoothes out. My neighbor has one and everytime I bring the Yami over I tell him I can fix that miss but he wont let me.

First, your bike is rubber mounted, so there will be motor vibration at idle. The bike is designed that way. When you ride it and accelerate the vibration should smooth out. Now, if one of the rubber motor mounts is bad, then you will have excess vibration at idle, so check out the rubber motor mounts to make certain they haven't deteriorated.

+1 on the above. Being used to a softail, the first time I rode a Dyna, I thought the front wheel was going to fall off at idle. After getting it on the road, it all smoothed out. If it continues to vibrate at riding speed, check your motor mounts for damage and alignment.

You need to leave that vibration alone. We like it that way..

I'd take a look at the motor mounts. If the bike was sitting for a year, I'd bet that one of them (at least) has collapsed. Not incredibly tricky or expensive to fix.

Dude, Get someone that has been around HD's to look and listen to it. Don't use the village idiot or some other newby. If they say it looks and sounds wrong than take it to a mechanic if you lack skills to trouble shoot a Harley at this time. Do this before you add crap to your gas tank, call a witch doctor, take advice from some of these other members, or start looking for that whirly gizmo. It will save you time, money, and maybe you will start Harley networking. I just thought up that networking bit but liked it.

Check your coolant levels.

And have the redhead Ripsaw posted check it out. She looks like she can tell you if your vibration is good or bad.
