Worst shock I ever got in the house, was when I was cleaning up my basement and there were some magazines on the floor. I reached down and picked them up and along with them I picked up a garter snake, at least 2 feet long. I'm not afraid of snakes, but that one made me yell - then I had to chase him all over the room to catch him again and put him outside.

I have encountered all sorts of critters in the road. Large & small. Domestic & wild. My rule of thumb is never ride faster than you can stop in the distance that you can see.

I have also encountered elk in the DB Forest too.

I bagged both of the critters up and put them outside, but the snake was so small I could not tell what it was. King, Garter and Rattlers all have a similar look and color.

I don't know if it actually qualifies as a bite, but I heard a story once about a guy running over a snake and when he got home and took off his boot there was a snake's fang stuck in it.

Never seen that before. Far as I know, we all missed him - not sure what kind it was, but the area has copperheads and rattlesnakes, among others.
Damn!! Glad it missed everyone!!

And now you know why I wear the knee-high riding boots when I ride.
