I say this because a guy I work with is crazy about porsche cars. He told me in 1999 or 2000 they switched over from air cooled to liquid cooled engines in the 911 and now all the people who are into those cars want the late '90s air cooled models.

Not sure if the same will happen with Harleys but I can see it happening.
A 1998 993S or Turbo in excellent shape and very low miles is essentially a collector's item which sells for as much or more than the original MSRP. Other 1995-1998 993 models also sell for a premium when compared to an equal 1999-2004 996 model. However, the newer 997 and now 991 models are the superior performers compared to any of the old air-cooled 911s. And of course all the Boxster and Cayman models are all water-cooled. The latest blaspheme of the Porsche sports car world is electronic steering.
