Default Chrome - Harley or Kuryakyn products?

Just looking for some opinions of the quality of HD chrome accessories vs products from Kuryakyn. I am awaiting delivery of my new Road Glide and starting to look at a few accessories such as floor boards, inner primary cover etc. Years ago when I bought a new 98 Road King, I bought a fair amount of HD chrome and had nothing but problems with it. Back in 02 or so, I had a Road Glide and picked up a set of Kury mirrors, inner primary cover and a few other pieces and it seemed fairly decent.

It's been a while since I've bought any HD or Kury parts so what's your suggestion?

Thanks

I'm a bad one to ask.....I base my decision not only on looks, but price also. I check to see where I can get the best deal and go with it.

I only have one non HD part on my bike which is an extended shifter lever I bought from Dennis Kirk. It's a kuryakyn I think and is very high quality. I look for the specific part I want and don't care if it's HD or not as long as it is good quality. I have not had any problems with HD parts at all yet. But have heard some complaints on this forum about some of the chrome plating failing.

Thanks Dawg. I am all for the looks too and like to save a buck when I can but I don't want ta toss good money towards garbage. The 98 chrome I had was realy bad and HD would not stand behind it at all. I was not impressed to say the least.

I agree. Price is a good gage! I am convinced that HD has many of their products made by Kuryakyn. I have purchased both for my ride and I like both. I check out my HD accessories book and then go to Dennis Kirk online and see if they have the same item and frequently they do at a lower price. If you want extreme good chrome then there other sources that are better, but I don't have a show bike so I don't worry about it too much.

Ride hard be safe.

Thanks KB. I am the same and don't really give a rats behind who makes it as long as it's a quality product. I want to buy something right the first time and do it right from da git go.

I agree ...quality is more important. I will not put "crap" on my bike. I'm not in a rush to add accessories either, I wait until I'm confident in my decision. It's not easy to make a masterpiece!

I have a lot of both, the only problems I had were with Kuryakyn Magnum mirrors, missing parts and chromeing issues. Went through 4 mirrors before I got a good one, no problem returning them (online of course) but still a pain.
