Went and registered my bike to get on base today (JB Lewis-McChord) and was told the post no longer required proof of insurance for motorcycles. I thought that was odd so I asked why and the lady said the state has eliminated the requirement so they are following suit. Any other Washingtonians know about this and why? I still carry insurance and would no matter what, but I thought it was an odd move for the state.
So if you are in an accident, who pays if you have no insurance? Is this insurance for collision, upset, vandalism, fire, theft? What about 3rd Party liability?
Not required in Florida, either. But it's pretty cheap--full coverage w/minimum liability/property damage--$26/monthly for 2 Harleys. Be stupid NOT to have it.
But, I bet if it became mandatory, the rates would skyrocket.

Love Washington, all the money I save not paying for insurance, goes into the tank.
