Default New to cold weather riding

Hey peeps,

I am totally new to riding in colder weather. Coming from sport bikes, I never even thought about riding in weather below 50*. Now that cold weather riding is going to happen, I need to make sure that I stay relatively warm on while riding. I would appreciate your opinions on these 2 coats and how well they will keep me warm

What temps can I expect to be protected to in each jacket? Is the leather that much better between the 2?

TIA

The top one says midweight so that will not be for cold weather. Bottom one has a liner so probably will keep you warmer. Everyone has different chill factor tho. Look at gerbings heated gear.

For more money the HD FXRG midweight leather jacket with removable liner will definitely keep you warm. The ones you listed may also but I know from personal experience about the FXRG. The hardest thing for me to keep warm are my hands, especially my fingertips.

they both have removable "warmth liners". The bottom jacket having 3M Thinsulate.

Heated gear.
I've got heated gloves, sleeved liner and pants.
I've never used the pants however I rode til nov 25 last year. Had to wait til they plowed the road to get to work.
Heavy leather jacket and my heated liner and 70mph at -5c was a piece of cake.

I normally wear my regular leather jacket, with a hoody underneath. Then I wear chaps and when its cold enough thermals under both hoody & pants.

My problem is also my hands. I don't like wearing gloves while riding to begin with and the clunky cold weather gloves make it even worse. I'm open to suggestions on that front though.

-5*C? I have heated leather seats in my car for that kind of weather LOL

Really just looking for something good to maybe freezing temp. Toy-for-Tots is in December, but I don't see me waiting for the roads to be plowed to ride...at least not this year

When I was hit last year, I had them install the inside handlebar heater. I don't just like it, I love it. It was down to low 40's the other nite here, using fingerless gloves and I was still warm
