Tranny Magnetic Plug Debris OK?
Doing my fluid changes on my '06 LR at 30k and the amount of debris on the tranny plug seems more than usual. May be paranoid but the dealer did the full monty IPB replacement at 26k but I wouldn't think that would cause more debris. Just making a sanity check with the experts on the forum. Is this a "normal" amount of debris for a 30K change. Been using Mobil 1 75W-90 since the 10k and every 5k thereafter. Well, except for the full monty at 26k where I instructed them to put synthetic in and they assured me they did but the invoice showed the used the standard HD stuff. Grrr.....

I'm gonna watch for the experts opinions but in my opinion thats more than normal. I would think that if you have done the changes as you stated that the debris level would be minimum. Mine sure does not have anything like that when I change the fluid.

Mine at 65 K only shows about 10% of what you have there .. Might be a good idea to send your Oil in for an analysis and see what the content is .. However by old school experience said don't worry till get shiny fish scale flakes on the magnet .. Will still get an oil report and may save you some grief ..

How many miles has it been since you changed tranny fluid? Honestly I wouldn't worry about it if it shifts good. The longer you go between fluid changes, the more metal will accumulate. The inside of a tranny is a very hostile environment.

Only been 4k with HD Formula+ which the dealer put in after they did the full monty IPB bearing and tranny case replacement. It's had the Mobil 1 75W-90 every 5k for all other changes.

Since they did major trans work...ie case replacement...probably just the used gears getting used to their new home...I might worry if you are still getting that much a couple of oil changes from now.
