Default Wide rear tire and passenger?

Sorry if this had been covered, but haven't had any luck finding anything.

I'm considering getting a Fat boy and would like to add a wide tire kit but haven't hardly seen any bikes with a wide tire and a passenger seat.

Is a wide back tire and a passenger generally a bad idea? I would like to add a 250 and a passenger seat.

Thanks for any help!

As long as the fender is still fully supported, I don't see why not. May not look right though...

Thanks!

I'm leaning toward not widening it, considering the stock rear is already 200.

I'm thinking that is the way to go. Personally the fat tire fad was silly to begin with. Form IMO, should always follow function, and I think over 200 you're not gaining anything performance wise.

Also, I can see a fat tire if it has a real small fender that shows off the rim and tire, but to just cover it up with a wide fender seems silly to me.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Unless the passenger's butt isn't wider.

Don't completely understand the semantics of it, but when buying a new wheel, make sure to get one that any tire machine will work on. It is nice to have any indy change a tire. Also, when you get up to the size tire you are referring to, remember that it won't be a stock item if you use the bike for touring. If you ruin a tire in a remote area, you may be there for a while.
