Default Dealer Discount

New to the HD/motorcycle world in general. Going to be my first bike and I don't need my wife's permission, can stroke a check, can go out of state ( Texas ). How much will a dealer discount a bike, and will they throw in some extras. I know they need to make a profit, but don't want to pay MSRP. Local dealer also states all CVO bikes are Sticker + $3000.
Thanks

Harley dealers are just like car dealers in my experience (and I have dealt with many of both). If you are set on a new bike then call as many dealers and get their lowest quote and then take that to your local dealer- I have saved thousands that way. MSRP is way over invoice on bikes and some dealers will only sell for MSRP and others will knock several thousand off depending on the bike. Just bought my wife a new hard candy sportster and they knocked off $1000, but that was after shopping about 15 dealerships for the best price (not to mention that the new models just came out). What model are you looking at? Obviously 2012's need to be moved. And your best bet is if you can find a used model with only a few hundred miles on it and then you don't have to pay sales tax (depending on your state's laws), and all the dealer prep fee crap. Can't stress enough SHOP AROUND!!

First of all, the problem with the CVO bikes is that they are limited in numbers and in colors, and the dealerships have little say in what they receive from H-D.
If you want one, be prepared to pay at least MSRP plus their set-up fee, but $3000 is absolute gouging IMHO.

You need to find a H-D salesperson to help you locate the model and color that you want.

I'd also suggest that you go to CVO thread on this website and ask fellow members to keep an eye out for a bike like you want.

BTW, what are you looking to buy?

Damn, your first bike ever is going to be a CVO?....What some dealers will tell you over the phone or Internet is different from what they do in person a lot of times.Hit as many dealers as you can.
