Default New Colors *Pics*

Took a ride out today and hit the local dealers – got the red, green, and blue metal flake 2013 Street Bobs. Looking at the Harley site now; is blue even supposed to be one of the metal flake colors? LOL

I’m not a pro photographer, but I picked the best of what I got. These photos are taken with my new Canon G1X and in really high resolution if you look at the highest resolution versions on Flickr. If you are interested in seeing such a thing anyway – you can see the metal flake in really high detail.

This is the link to the set:

If you aren’t familiar with Flickr – here are direct links to the close-ups of the metal flake red and green:

You’ll have to scroll around to see, but you get to see the metal flake in really high detail if you are interested in that. Those were the sharpest pics of the lot that I got anyway.

While I’m at it; keep in mind that I just used the jpegs that the camera produced after deciding the Canon DPP software over sharpened the RAW files with the default settings (if you even know what any of that means). I’m not a big RAW file tweaker expert.

Basically, take the color you see with a grain of salt. Depending on your monitor too, etc. I just compressed the RAW files with Adobe Camera RAW 6.7 with the default settings (a little softer by default than the original jpegs). Adobe seems to me to oversaturate colors a little by default without applying any profiles or correction to the RAW files though, but you might see a difference in the color richness in these if you are really being critical.

Just sayin – don’t let those originals taint your opinion of how deep the color is. I could tweak those pictures to look grossly different than reality for that matter. The ones I posted were what Canon sets the jpegs to look like and they might be a tad more drab than reality.

Not trying to beat a dead horse; I’m sure everyone is familiar with ‘Photoshopping’ a picture, but RAW file tweaking is just a little different. You can take a RAW file and amp up very specific colors, etc. Conversely, your camera – if it only shoots jpeg is making these decisions for you basically. If it oversaturates or mutes the colors – that’s what you’re stuck with unless you try to tweak an already compressed image.

This was the very same shot from my trip to Colorado shot with my former Canon G12; I took a little liberty with amping up the blue in the sky and the green in the foliage, etc. Like I said, I’m no pro and these aren’t meant to be ‘good examples’ – just me playing around and turning what looked drab to me into what I suppose I considered a more dramatic memory of the trip. LOL

Blue isn't even listed as one of the colors being released in the large metal flake. I wish you would have gotten a close up of the tank like you did the green and red. There is also suppose to be a gold and I think a silvery color in those large metal flake colors too.

Nice bunch of pictures, thanks. I personally think HD went over board on the metal flake, a bit to much for my taste.

Cheers,

Nice paint. Reminds of a bass boat.
