RE: Best area to stay in while attending Sturgis?
Thanks guys I'll check out some of the places listed. Riding buddy just called and we've decided no roughing it this year so motels are going to be it. Now the search begins.

good luck on finding a hotel
if you are there for the party then stay at Glencoe
if you are there for the ride then stay in Keyston Deadwood or Hillcity

We rented a house out in spearfish, it was great, we rode the spearfish canyon almost everyday! Your not very far from Stugis, but you are far enough away, that you can sleep at night.

ORIGINAL: hartick
shade valley campground. big tree log lodge that serves beer and food. lots of campsites and if you want to sleep it was usually quiet enough. about 10 min from downtown. i would definitly stay there again

only draw back was it's a long walk back to tent site from the beer garden.....

well I guess each has their own favorite.
few years back I did chip, glencoe and such.
Chip was bare pairie amentities sucked and no shade. For the price I could of had a motel room in Custer or Rapid City.
I think glencoe was rained out one night this year and no refunds.
I'm in my 50's been riding since I was 14. But now I find I do enjoy a good nights sleep and not have to worry about some drunk falling into my tent or worse, riding through it (and yes it happened).
I do Sturgis about every other year now. And when I do I also do NO PANTY WEDNESDAY in Hulett about 90 miles away. So someplace central to both is good.
This las t year I staed in Belle Fourshce .
Some really nice and friendly people bought the old high school named it Playground Campground.
Beer garden (small, but reasonably priced) plenty of indoor toilets and showers, also large gymn
with tv and in case of severe weather (rain you know). They will do whatever they can to make
your stay pleasant. This year was $25 night tent camping.
Couple good bars three blocks away (do burn outs in one) street dancing a couple nights.
Breakfast? 3 or 4 blocks a couple churches. $3 or $3.50 they FILLED your plate (and no preaching).
And I was comfortable leaving for the day and not worried if some thief would steal my tent and such.
Check it out on the map, 40 miles west of Sturgis, 40 miles EAST of Hulett (Devils Tower) about 10 miles north of Spearfish.
