Saw a cop bike you don't see everyday
I was running my usual errands and pulled into the parking lot of my local CVS. As I was riding in I saw a cop bike. They're not too common in my area so after I parked I went to take a look. The cop was coming and getting ready to mount. It turns out to be an active duty FXR Police Bike all decked out. It looked rough and well used. It looked like it was dropped at least once. But it sounded great and ran smoothly at idle and when he pulled out. I told him "Nice FXR" then asked him how long he's been riding that particular bike for. He said about 4 years. It's obviously much older than that. I'm guessing one of the last versions in the 90's. I was coming and he was going and I didn't have time for a pic. Since it was at a local pharmacy there's a chance I may see the bike again. I don't recall the last time I saw an FXR cop bike. I usually see the Road Kinds. It was a nice find.

I can't tell from that pic. His bike had the FXR battery cover that was chromed and on the right side the FXR side covers and the round Evo air cleaner.
Edit:
Is that bike even an FXR?

Maybe it wasn't an FXR. Depends on what you say the chromed battery cover is. The battery sits under the seat and has no cover. If you're talking about the triangle shaped side covers (they cover all the electrical connections), then yes, it was an FXR. And tht picture posted above is not an FXR.

I've seen many FXR bikes through the years. No I didn't know the battery was under the seat so for lack of a better way to say it I said battery cover. But the above pic looks nothing like the FXR. Not sure why it was posted other than it's a cop bike.

The last FXR (other than CVO in '99 & '00) was built in '94. Not sure when the last FXR-P was built though. Either way, 18 years in service (or more) for a bike is a LOOOONG time! And good eyes for realizing what it was.

In the above pic I didn't see the side covers and also noticed it had an FL front end. Plus the exhaust crossed over on the left side.
