Default Anyone ever have a skull shaped gas cap break?

I was taking mine in a selfless act of good will and putting it on my wifes bike when I accidentally dropped it. The metal skull dislodged itself from the 2 platic pieces that make up the cap. I cannot figure out how the skull was attached to the plastic. Any ideas on how to put this back together. I was thinking some silicon out of a tube, you know kinda like that gasket sealer but clear. Do you think this will work or do you have any other suggestions besides just buying a new one? Thanks. Here is what it looks like obviously on the right side.

If there is no sign of any glue used, it is probably pressed togehter.

I dont think it was glued, most likely pressed. How much is a new one?? Now that I think about it, didnt your dealer tell you it wouldnt fit her sporty?? Use duct tape and RIDE!!!

I tried it on the sporty a couple of days ago, and it fit fine. But when I decided to stick on her bike without her knowing this is what happened. It doesnt look lke any glue. Oh well, time o buy a new one. I think now I'll get the matching led fuel guage too...and some other stuff as well...

They are $39.99 from the dealer and yes it also fits the sporty's. Anubiss, as long as the silicone does not inhibit the venting of the cap you can attach it with clear silicone, superglue or what-ever. After it has cured,(ok, this is gonna sound weird!!) suck on the underside of the cap to create a vacumm, if it lets air flow thru then your good. If it doesn't, it has the potential to collapse your tank and you need to chuck it and buy a new one.

Don't use the silicon. Silicon has wonderful underwanted effects on car parts, I can't imagine what it could do harmful in that location on a bike but hell if I'd take that chance. What will work though, is liquid metal. It's like 3 bucks a tube and it'll pretty much bond any two objects together rather well. Ya gotta leave it dry for 24 hours though, just to warn ya.

Don't let that sucker smack the ground! and I wouldn't suggest jury rigging a gas cap it either.
