Order mine about a month ago from Dennis Kirk. There sitting in the garage waiting till I put them on in a couple more weeks.

The Dunlop D-402 has concentric treads, which tend to follow seams, and grooves in pavement. The Metzlers, Avons,Elite-3s, and Commander IIs, all do not.
Many people report improved handling because the above new tires do not squirm around due to road conditions.

I think I am going to go with the Commander II over the winter when I change mine out. I only have 5000 miles on the stock Dunlops but they are 6 years old. I bought the bike with 4500 miles on it. Sad thing is, the Dunlops actually still look in very good condition... no dry rot and just a few cuts in the thick part of the tread (probably from running over rocks and such).

I got just over 30K on my Elite- 3's Just switched to the Commander II's only have 2K on them, but I'm happy and believe them to be better than the Elite-3 that I took off.
I was caught in a rain storm on my way home with the NEW tires (not a good situation to be in with new rubber) Just took it easy had no problem.

I rode from Kansas City Mo. To Omaha, Ne on these tires in pouring rain at 75 mph. No issues on my end.

"Back in the day" we used to get over 20,000 on the Goodyears routinely. The difference was the front and rear wheels were interchangeable, so after the first rear tire wore out, the front went on the rear with hardly any wear in 10,000 miles, and we'd get 10,000 more on the rear.
i get close to 15,000 on the rear, 22-24,000 on the front. I'm happy with the Dunlops that came on the bike, but maybe ignorance is bliss, I don't know.

I got 16k out of my rear Dunlop. I thought that was pretty good considering some of the mileage others have been getting. But, the tire was pretty shot. Still had some depth to the tread (didn't measure it), but the center contact patch went from about 1.5" when new, to about 5" when I changed them. Not many curves where I live. We'll see how the Commanders do in that department. Still, I really like how these tire are handling. I've got 300 miles on them right now. Just got them Friday.
