Default to sturgis or not to sturgis

so i have gone to sturgis the last 5 years and enjoyed it every time

so i am wondering whether to go this year or not. looking for some possible comments.

i already have next week off.

but.................

in the past, i have always gone with some members of my family.
2007 - brother
2008 - wife daughter brother
2009 - wife daughter brother (this was the year my brother rear ended me)
2010 - wife daughter son brother
2011 - wife daughter son

they would drive and i would ride.
i enjoy it because :
- i luv riding, iowa and SD 2 laners
- enjoy the time with family
- lots to do in sturgis and surrounding area

but this year, the son is in management training and can't get away, the wife can't get off cause she is the SME and needs to cover while others are vaca. the daughter is doing the summer school thing and the bro, well thats a story in itself.

so i would be going by myself

but i have taken many trips by myself and have no problem with it and do enjoy it

i would be doing it more for the ride there and back then the sturgis scene although a t-shirt would be in my future

but my group is doing a major implementation this weekend and i feel funny leaving during, and my wife would be alone sat-wed cause the daughter is away with friends.

so thus far, i will be helping with the implementation and hanging with the wife (obviously we get along pretty well).

but i could leave like tue nite or wed morn. that would give me 2 days there and 2 back and 1 day there which would be good. its around 1000 one way, but 500 a day is no problem for me.

so the question is - To sturgis or not to sturgis

Come on and go. I'll buy you a beer - just ask if you see me - overweight, mid 50's, bald with a beard.

Put it off, go with friends/family and go when the roads are less crowded.

It's the journey not the destination...

Love the black hills for riding but I hate crowds and for me theres just too many bikes and the roads are way too congested, so I always go either a few weeks before or after the rally. Then I can do what I love and that is to ride.

That's what I did year before last. It felt great because my tent was walking distance to the bar. Woke up around noon feeling like someone dropped an anvil on my head. lol.

I told the wife I'm going this year, she said "NNNNNNNO". I'll save peace in the family and honor that. I don't think she likes me getting plastered.

Long as I "wake up" ALONE, the wife doesn't care !!
