Texas Marines. Motorcycle Related!
I finally got my single tail lamp installed and removed the turn signals. I havent had a single problem coming through gate. Just wondering if this will eventually bite me in the ***. Cant find anything in the MCO, and my bike is still registered in Texas and havent had any problems here in Cali. I use my arm signals, and wear the correct PPE. What are yalls thoughts?
MCO 5100.19E W/CH 1-3
d. Equipment
(1) Government-owned (nontactical) and privately owned
motorcycles shall not be operated on a Marine Corps installation
without a rearview mirror mounted on each side of the handlebars or
fairing. The mirrors shall afford a clear view of at least 200 feet
to the rear.
(2) Each motorcycle passenger shall be provided with a
regulation seat and footrests.
e. Failure to wear PPE or comply with licensing or operator
training requirements may be considered in making line-of-duty
determinations.
f. When operated on any DoD installation, on and off road, all
Government or privately owned motorcycles must have headlights turned
on (if so equipped) except where prohibited by military mission,
Status of Forces Agreements, or local laws.
The section above this was PPE and the section below was Driver Education. So I dont think I missed anything.

i wouldn't expect you to have a problem coming through the gate. the gate guards don't do a walk around inspection when you come in, just a quick check to make sure you're wearing the proper ppe. the mp's on post, might have a different outlook though.
i believe that somewhere else it states that your bike must meet the minimum state requirements. if cali does not require turns signals, then you should be good. if not, you may get 'bit in the ***'

Unless things have changed, the gate guards ARE MP's, at least when I was one at Camp Pendleton. Every vehicle had to comply with California Vehicle Codes and any and all base restrictions/codes. I know that my bike was NOT allowed on base, and I was a frikkin MP. Gotta learn the rules and play by them when you are government property !
Good luck ! and ride safe !

My bike is already registered on base. Havent had a problem since last october but took my front blinkers off a week or so ago and took my rears off a few days ago. The only problem I can see is when we have our vehicle inspections for leave and holidays. But then again, usually the people that check my bike dont even ride so they dont know whats right or wrong.

Such is life ! I still ride on the nearest base (Warren AFB, Cheyenne, WY) to the PX and commissary and have no problems: guess I should stop and get a copy of base regs for bikes ! Just show my ID and ride through....
