Default Anybody else having trouble with Mini Beast?

I bought the Mini Beast 2 for my bike. Installed it and went for a ride, it was LOUD, but too bad it didn't work for more than a day! I returned it to Pro Pad, installed the replacement and the same thing happened! I called Pro Pad up and told them I didn't want them to fix my horn but to send me a new one. Then they sent me the internal workings of the horn, of course I had already sent the other one back so all I had was the internals but nothing to mount them in. Looking at the internals it looks like they secure the compressor and horn to the mounting with a thin flat wire. The horn they had just sent me had 2 of the wires wrapped around instead of one wire like the first horns had. My son looked at it and said he would put some safety wire on it, the stuff he used in the Air Force on F-15's. That seemed to make for a more secure mounting. Rode a couple of hundred miles yesterday and the horn is still intact.

I've had them on both bikes for 3 & 4 years. Never a problem & I think mine are riveted to the supports.

Had a Howard's air horn...lasted about a year. Couldn't take the weather or vibration - junk. Tried a Wolo air horn...didn't last a week. Went to Autozone and picked up the loudest electric horn they had...$18, and tucked it under the stock cowbell cover. Has lasted years...

If I need something louder than that, I got a .45.

Interesting my Howard's Horn has been tough as nails...after I made my own mounting bracket. But that was a weak HD part anyway.

Sounds like horns are inconsistant in nature.

Keep an eye on the mount grommet....Mine delaminated, and scared the deuce out of me when the housing started clunking against one of the cyclinder head cooling fins!

As fare as the horn itself, No problems in 2-1/2 years.

Best wishes....Tim(HT)
