Nice thread revival!

Big Black...although I never call it that. It's more "The Bike".

 

I have never named any of my rides but a couple have acquired names by default. When I bought the Ultra I have now it was in the middle of a snow storm so it was a few days before I picked it up and when I did it just happened to be on Valentines Day. My wife jokingly told people she bought it for my Valentine present so sometimes it gets called Val. Many years ago after the wife and I were married a couple months she suddenly woke me in the middle of the night wanting to know who the hell the "Darlene" was I was talking to in my sleep,without blinking an eye I said my bike and rolled over and went back to sleep.The next day during my "interrogation" I told her that was my pet name for inanimate objects, for months afterward I called my bike Darlene,my Statocaster Darlene,my shotgun,coffee pot,toaster,etc.She came to regret asking about Darlene as it became a stale wore out joke but either I quit talking in my sleep or she decided to not ask anymore....

Pearl as well. The name just came to me one day when I saw her at the dealership. As it ends up, the color is States Blue Pearl.

 

I just call her my bike. But friends and family say there's your wife's bike, since she consigned and gave me cash for the down payment. So it kinda stuck.

Nah...I barely name my pets. Last 2 dogs I had were called "Red Dog" and "Black Dog".
