I lost interest for a few years back in the 90's. I had moved and didn't have anyone to ride with, and my wife wouldn't ride with me because the kids were little. Riding in Phoenix was kind of a pain because of all the traffic, and it was not relaxing. Fast forward to now. My wife rides with me, and that makes all the difference for me. I get a little bored with the same local roads sometimes, but we also take 1 and 2 week trips on the bike that we plan months in advance. It givesussomething to look forward to, and keeps it fresh.

Once I was totally into archery. I had three different bows. One for indoor target. One for outdoor target and one for hunting. I loved it. One day it ran out. I sold everything and never again gave it a second thought. I was also totally into golf and one day had enough, sold my clubs and never regreted that. Wife and I moved from Michigan to San Diego so we could sail year round. I had owned a Columbia, Tartan, Willard, Pearson and Cape Dory sail boat and one day said: "I'm not having fun anymore." Sold the last boat, traveled a few years in a motorhome and settled here in Tucson.

In my case the motorcycle is the only thing I haven't lost interest in. I've been riding over 60 years.

There are many pleasures in life and nothing says you will get hooked on all of them. Some we have to try. Sell your bike. You don't know. You might never look at another bike again. If you find you miss it, from the experience you've gained you will have a better idea of which model you want. After all, not too many of us are riding our last bike. What's the differenceif we trade it in today or sell it today and buy another one in a year, two or three.

Don't make a big deal out of it. Too many things to do: so little time.

Good luck !

Not me....still love riding my bike. Maybe you should take a little break and then see how you feel. My guess is after a little time away, you'll be ready to start riding again.

I lived in South Florida up until last October, and I know what you're talking about, I think.
The cage drivers down there are the worst, either you got the ancients that can't see or hear, or you got undocumented/unlicensed/uninsurred drivers that just don't care about anyone but themselves.
It was a nightmare to ride down there and I am so glad to be gone.

I became somewhat uninterested I thought, but as soon as I would get away from there, I felt like riding again.
It turns out to be fear, hard to believe for me, but I think it's true.

Good luck and I hope can escape from So Fl soon.

I got away from road bikes for about a year in the early 90's... Was riding 4-wheelers and dirt bikes so much that the road wasn't as exciting for me anymore. After that year, I got rid of the road bike I hated and got one I loved and it was all renewed again.

But now, I find that living on the edge of the city, I don't feel like venturing out in traffic again after I get home from work and I've ridden any close roads so many times they're pretty boring. Weekends are still fun if I can find someone to ride with, but being divorced I don't even have a regular passenger. Sometimes I like to ride alone, but even that gets old after a time.

So, I guess I see where you're coming from, but at least for me, it's not the riding that I've lost interest in, it's the way I ride.

I'm thinking it will all pick up again when I either move away from the city or find a regular riding partner, either pillion or on their own bike. Riding is pretty isolating and without a regular "squeeze", I get tired of being isolated all the time.I'm hoping this summer will be my rebirth so I still baby the bikes and still read the mags and still hang out on here. It'll come back around... And after the snow and cold is gone, even the old boring roads will be new...

I think a lot of people here hit some really good points.....it could be your year round riding season, need to take a break. Could be quitting smoking. Could be depression. Could be lack of good riding buddies. Could be lack of good roads to ride. Could be fear of cagers in the area. Could be all of the above or none of the above.

If you really like the bike you have. Keep it on a tender and under a cover for a couple months before you decide to sell. Not riding may bring back the itch. If you don't like it, sell it now, you can always find an 07 later.

I'm like many others here, I've had a million different passions that while they were my passion, they consumed me, spent every penny I had on them and every free moment. Almost all of those are long gone now. I'mstill new to riding, so for all I know, I may burn out in a couple of years. But with all my past passions, I never sell the stuff right away. I always find that as soon as I thought I was done and sold something, I would find myself instantly missing it and going back and buying new again. So now, when I think I'm done, I just pack whatever it is up for 6 months or so.....if I practically forget about it in those six months, then I sell and find something else.

Good luck whatever you choose.

The effect may be similar to SAD (seasonal affective disorder), from when our ancestors were cavemen and went through seasonal cycles of what they had to do to survive.

Don't worry, if you are away from it for awhile it may come back stronger again.

Say, your knuckles don't drag the ground, do they?
