Default Trip to Shanksville, Pa. The Flight 93 crash

My wife a I along with my brother and his wife, took a trip out to Shanksville, Pa. to see the temporary memorial to Flight 93. It was a sobering experience. Wewent October 21-23 , kind of chilly for a longbike ride from Indiana to Pa., but who cares. We covered a total of 1100 milesin all types of weather, rain , snow flurries, sun shine, 32 degrees to 60 degrees you name it we went through it. It was a great ride but kind of rushed. If you have not made the trip out there, you should. They are working on plans to erect the permnant memorial and should be getting started on it soon. The hole where the plane went down has been back filled, so it is no longer there, when they dugthe plane out of the ground they went ahead and filled in the hole. There are items from all over the U.S. posted at the memorial. If you are nearPa. you need to make the trip like I did, just do it when it is warmer, you'll have more fun.I have posted some pix of the memorial and the crash site, hope you enjoy them. In the photo where all you see is a lot of grass with a small flag in it is where the plane went down, the trees in the dack ground is where alot of the plane ended up, some of the trees have been removed.I got thephoto of the actual impact areaoff the internet, just to show how things have changed. One reason we went was because my brother just got back from Iraq, in one piece, after doing 16 months and he wanted to see the crash site, the other is because my wife went to NY and saw Ground Zero, and see wanted to go out to see the other sites. No matter what people think about the war, just remember that the soldiers are doing their jobs and need our support, they are fighting for what we have so we can keep it. Soap box done. Thank you.
