Buying my 1st bike (2012 Dyna Street Bob) any tips or tricks for buying?

12,999 is list price + 700 dealer prep =13,600+ tax=around 14,600+CA fee=14,800
SD Harley and Biggs are good dealers, however Biggs WILL give you more if you ask.
They will pay your HOG National and local membership which gives you 10% off stuff.
When you attend any HOG Chapter meeting you get 15% off. Biggs service is also open on Sundays for light service or pick up. Ask 13,600 out the door and see what happens.
Also ask for a free shirt and free 1,000 service with the deal. I got all this stuff from Biggs. Last month they let me rent a Street glide for only $50!

Bought my new bike back in May. Called every dealer within 400 miles and was surprised to see over $2000 difference between them. Same model, Same colors. Always ask freight and prep prices (and write all this down). Some dealers were double price over others. I think freight is supposed to be $380 for the big bikes and $280 for the smaller ones. Also saw huge differences in APR. Found one dealer $800 below MSRP with no freight and prep, but their APR was double most other dealers, and the payments ended up being the same. Look around, you'll be happy you did. Also get a manual and do your own service, it's not rocket science (just Harley science). Good Luck!

Awesome to hear from the guys in SD area about their buying experiences. I emailed both Biggs along with 6 others in the area (SD/OC) and am going to contact SD Harley today or tomorrow, but I got rubbed the wrong way from one sales guy when I went in there a couple of weeks ago.
Oh and the APR they gave me was insane, especially since my credit rating is almost perfect. Looks like I will end up just going with my credit union for that since they had a good rate. The funny thing was that they told me to let them know what I can get from my CU and they would see if Harley would match it. I was thinking... why wouldn't you just give me the best rate right now? Kinda odd.

I would wait for the 2013's to come out...I got $2K off MSRP from the dealership back in 2009 (year end, month end) because they needed to get them off the floor. Make sure you have cash in-hand (if possible) and be prepared to walk if they don't meet your expectations. There aren't many people prepared to throw down $13K on a motorcycle these days.

Just bought a 12 road glide custom. 2000 off sticker. We also purchased a 2012 Fat Boy low at 2200 off sticker.
We looked at a few dealers, the one that moved on price and put us on the bikes when we walked in made the sale. The others....didn't.
This economy is in bad shape.I find it hard to believe that anybody is selling at or above sticker.

Thanks again for all the info. I think I made the right decision and just wanted to update everyone... I ended up getting the dealer down to 14,500 out the door and also got them to throw in the 1k service, tshirt for my wife (she'll get pissed if I call her my old lady on here - HAHAHA!), one of those expensive short sleeve button down shirts for me and 1st year dues to their HOG chapter.
So what do you guys think? Good deal or could I have done better?
Oh yeah and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my bike!

Looks like they ate most of the dealer prep, freight, and any other BS charges they like to pile on, but you basically paid MSRP minus the charges listed in this sentence.
Personally, I think you could have negotiated a lot more off that sticker price, especially with the '13s coming in, but you got your bike, and you are happy, so just enjoy it now.
