I got blasted by a 16 yr old bitch running a stop sign a few years ago. Felt sorry for her so did not sue. About 6 months latter she ran over a Kid on a bike.

 

Final update:
I picked up the bike this week. Basically everything painted was replaced plus the frame and a new front tire.
I had agreed to pay the difference to have apes installed since insurance was paying for new handlebars. So I was supposed to pay the difference between the regular stock handlebar and the apes plus the extended cables, and also has them put on 360 mounts with dually highway pegs. When I walked in to pick up the bike they told me that insurance paid the complete bill and I owe them nothing.
Overall a very good experience at Bergen Harley.

How are you doing? Sounds like you hit pretty hard with a damaged helmet.

 

Glad to hear you are back in the saddle, and insurance took care of the bike. How about medical expenses, etc.? They taking care of that too? I'd think a little extra for pain and suffering would be in order. I'm not a big fan of lawyers, but sometimes you need a good one on your side.

I'm sure there's no need to tell you to be careful when you get back on the road, but your incident shows that even if you do everything right some fool can still take you out. Seems like every time I get on the road I see some idiot doing something stupid and dangerous. Gotta watch out and ride like everybody is out to get you.

 

Thanks guys. I'm doing fine mostly recovered from my 9 fractured ribs. Yes my medical is covered and yes I got a lawyer who is in the process of a lawsuit.
I'm just happy to be able to get back on the bike and ride with all my limbs intact. As far as being careful this goes to show you that you can do everything your supposed to and the 17 year old will still find away to get you.

 

17 just ain't your lucky number! You should thank her for removing that reflector for you, tho...

But seriously glad you're still alive and came away well enough to able to get yourself up off the pavement and snap some pics to share with us. Phuckin' awesome!
