Default Belt drive primary

With all this recent talk about bad compensators, what are the pros and cons of going to a belt drive?

And which belt is better for a daily driver? 3inch, 2 inch?

Lets discuss...

cheers

This is a rather interesting topic. I've been rather interested in this as well. I've only owned Chain driven personally. But I'm buying my new HD soon, and this would be a good thing to know so I can make a more educated choose. So I shall follow this with great interest.

In general, for a daily driver - go with the narrowest belt available and an enclosed, but ventilated primary. Unless you have a honkin' beast of a motor, those wide belts are for show. Also, most units are noisier. Usually not a big deal, but some of the clutches sound like things are comin' apart, LOL.

No oil leaks. No chains to wear out. No tensioner to screw up. No compensator to mess up. Lighter. More efficient. Less maintenance.

Oh yeah, I'm sold on Primo drives.
