Apparently a Florida State Police officer was following me for awhile on my way to work this morning.
He informed me of a couple of things I didn't realize, other than "ALL" police officers don't recognize the official 9 mph over the speed limit grace speed.

First, He was a little upset that I passed a school bus running 45 in a 55 zone and in his estimation, I was going well over 55 mph.
Frankly, If you're not supposed to go over the speed limit when passing in a legal passing zone, then why are there broken lines? I want to get around and back in the right lane asap.
Oh well......

The most disturbing aspect was....Not that my pipes were too loud...Rather my pipes are ILLEGAL because "any alteration of basic stock exhaust is illegal in the state of Florida.
I remarked, well, there are alot of dealers and shpps in Florida that sell illegal products. He then says...You can buy guns too but that doesn't mean you can go out and shoot people.

Wow.

I didn't realize aftermarket pipes were illegal.

I also didn't realize that the federal government can FORCE you to buy a federal product or service.
But, that's what this country is coming to.I believe we're headed for a violent and ugly future.

Obamacare's individual mandate passed in the Supreme Court. I believe the logic was something about how it's not the Supreme Court's place to decide whether or not government mandates are constitutional.

So, did you get written up or are you just ranting because he interrupted your day by doing his job? Seriously, "the official 9 mph over the speed limit grace speed"?? There is no such thing. It's completely up to the LEOs discretion.

Bottom line: You were speeding and running illegal pipes. You got caught. Man-up & quit whining about it.

 

i used to live there...never heard of "illegal pipes" in FL...

if he didn't give a citation, he must've liked you... and will be on the look out, most especially when you pass a school bus again...

Knock knock Yo Elvis , they are cops , they have the guns and arguing isn't going get you dick but more heartache & grief . Smile say yes sir & thank you , best you can do till court time .

 

As mentioned, when stopped by a FHP Trooper or any other LEO just ask what was the problem officer and accept the lecture at face value. He has a gun and a badgeand he will usually win. Think "thin blue line". Got stopped in Jax ,Fl one day tried to discuss the offense, didn't go too well. A few months later the officer got messed up trying to take on a nut job armed with a shot gun. Maybe your trooper was pretty fresh out of the academy or just studied up on a few things, who knows.

 

you should have told him it's not illegal to buy guns as they aren't illegal, and then you should have told him you absolutely did NOT alter the stock exhaust, in fact, the stock exhaust is still completely intact and are being stored in a nice box in the garage. The exhaust on your bike is stock as well, it has not been altered in any way and is in the same condition as when you bought it.

and if he wanted to lecture me I'd politely tell him he's NOT my parents and he sure as hell isn't my wife so he can save his breath
