I agree with you, but in his defense the cops here are generally more laid back and less confrontational than American LEO's.

But you are right, John Q. Public, who has received no formal training on the various laws and regulations should know them all automatically, and its ok if our poor, over worked public servants make the occasional mistake, I mean its not like they can potentially ruin your life or cost you time and money, right?
So a person shouldn't know that going over a posted speed limit is speeding? Give me a break. And I think anybody who rides a motorcycle knows that almost all aftermarket exhausts are illegal. Luckily it's not enforced very often.

Best you can do is be polite to them, like they were your friend's father. Hard to win an argument on the side of the road with a LEO. The long arm of the law has the upper hand. Hopefully, common curtesy will prevail. Most of them want respect.

Not at all, I was merely making examples, poor ones granted. as to aftermarket pipes being illegal, I never knew that until I read this thread to be honest. I remember reading somewhere that the average person commits three felonies a day, we have so many laws and there are tons that are contradictory and make no sense where you know about one law, try to comply with it and end up breaking three other laws in the process. Does that apply to motorcycle? probably not, but the fact remains.

My point is, there are tons of laws out there that you and I know nothing about, yet break them all the time, its just a matter have having a cop see the act, know the law and decide to bother with it. There in you run the risk of being punished for something you had no knowledge of, yet if a cop breaks the law or makes a mistake and you suffer due to it, often they get the professional curtsey "mulligan"

A lot of good replies.
You know your pipes are loud and by decible ratings illegal.
Just shut up to the Leo and say yes sir, I never say thank you to them, unless they let me off with a warning.
The 9mph over the limit is for people with quiet bikes or cages.
Did you not see the LEO?
If you didnt, you should of
If you did, why get on the gas and make the sampsons bark? To risky IMHO
Just pay the ticket, n the memo write, "Pig Charity"

Obviously there are quite a few on the forum who have yet to grasp that logic and would rather cry like little girls because the mean old police man was picking on them. Grow the hell up!
The difference between you and most on this forum is you are a pompous @ss..

I believe he said the school bus was doing 45mph in a 55 mph zone. I would pass a school bus or a police car for that matter. It's not like the bus was at a stop picking or letting off kids.
