"Illegal" Pipes?

Unless you are a cop, DA or such, then there simply far too many laws and regulations for an individual to be expected to know them all, and it is understandable and forgivable when they make mistakes. You know, like SWAT teams raiding the wrong house, and seemingly often shooting the family dog and or home owner in the process.
But you are right, John Q. Public, who has received no formal training on the various laws and regulations should know them all automatically, and its ok if our poor, over worked public servants make the occasional mistake, I mean its not like they can potentially ruin your life or cost you time and money, right?

Well I am not in the habit of passing school buses unless they are on the highway with no flashing lights and going slower then the speed limit.
Minnesota allows a little extra speed to pass. I forget what it is but I think it is 7 mph.
ND it is up to the officer but my daughter got pulled over and warned for doing 3 over when passing a car.
Had a leo follow me right to my drive way once. He had no problem with my "off road" Se exhaust. He had a problem with my stereo. I had it turned up enough to understand it and he said it could be heard more then 50 ft behind me which is against the law in our town.

I am a former South Dakota LEO. I can tell you that there is absolutely no such thing as a free amount of speeding you can do. The law is quite clear on what speeding is. Any speed over the posted limit is speeding. Different jurisdictions will have different reccomendations as to when warnings will stop and citations issued, but you can get stopped for 1 mile over.

If you point a radar gun at someones car and watch how their speed goes up and down then they will eventually go 1 mph over. That is why most LEO's give a bit of a buffer. When I was a Reserve LEO (kinda like a volunteer fireman), we never pulled anyone over unless they were pretty much 10mph over or more. Now if they were being reckless and only doing 5mph over then they would get stopped also.
And as has been stated MANY times on here, NEVER argue with a LEO over traffic violations. Do that in court. If you broke it you must pay to fix it.
