Ignorance is not an adequate defense. You broke the law and got caught. Maybe now you now better. Stop whining about it.

Unless you are a cop, DA or such, then there simply far too many laws and regulations for an individual to be expected to know them all, and it is understandable and forgivable when they make mistakes. You know, like SWAT teams raiding the wrong house, and seemingly often shooting the family dog and or home owner in the process.

But you are right, John Q. Public, who has received no formal training on the various laws and regulations should know them all automatically, and its ok if our poor, over worked public servants make the occasional mistake, I mean its not like they can potentially ruin your life or cost you time and money, right?

Not true. Minnesota allows drivers to exceed the posted speed limit by 10 mph to safely pass a vehicle going slower than the speed limit. You can read the article below for the reason why. We've had this law for a couple of years or more. We can also turn left on a red light, after a "reasonable period of time", if the light doesn't recognize the cycle and change on its own.

http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tru...sing-rule.html

A new law in Minnesota allows drivers to travel 10 mph over the speed limit while passing on certain two-lane highways. Also included in the bill is a provision allowing for stricter seat belt enforcement.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty signed into law this month the bill – HF108 – permitting drivers to exceed the speed limit by 10 mph to pass vehicles on two-lane highways posted with speeds of at least 55 mph.

Rep. Tom Rukavina, DFL-Virginia, said the requirement is needed because law enforcement isn’t as lenient as they used to be when it comes to passing slower traffic.

“In past times when you went to speed up to go around a car police officers knew what you were doing and they cut you some slack,” Rukavina told Land Line. “But nowadays seems most of them don’t do that so technically we have to change the law to allow for basically what has been a practice for most motorists. And in fact has been a practice for most police officers, but things have changed.”

The difference between myself and OP is that if I break the law and get caught, I don't whine & cry about how unfair it is. I accept the consequences for my own actions, like a real man does.

Obviously there are quite a few on the forum who have yet to grasp that logic and would rather cry like little girls because the mean old police man was picking on them. Grow the hell up!

First, He was a little upset that I passed a school bus running 45 in a 55 zone and in his estimation, I was going well over 55 mph.
Frankly, If you're not supposed to go over the speed limit when passing in a legal passing zone, then why are there broken lines? I want to get around and back in the right lane asap.
Oh well......

The most disturbing aspect was....Not that my pipes were too loud...Rather my pipes are ILLEGAL because "any alteration of basic stock exhaust is illegal in the state of Florida.
I remarked, well, there are alot of dealers and shpps in Florida that sell illegal products. He then says...You can buy guns too but that doesn't mean you can go out and shoot people.

Wow.

I didn't realize aftermarket pipes were illegal.

I also didn't realize that the federal government can FORCE you to buy a federal product or service.
But, that's what this country is coming to.I believe we're headed for a violent and ugly future.

If you're going to argue law with the police, learn it first. I don't know what you mean about "FORCE you to buy a federal product or service" but he's basically right. In Florida it's illegal to put on any exhaust louder than factory - same as most states.

5) NOISE ABATEMENT EQUIPMENT MODIFICATIONS.--

(a) No person shall modify the exhaust system of a motor vehicle or any other noise-abatement device of a motor vehicle operated or to be operated upon the highways of this state in such a manner that the noise emitted by the motor vehicle is above that emitted by the vehicle as originally manufactured.

(b) No person shall operate a motor vehicle upon the highways of the state with an exhaust system or noise-abatement device so modified.

When I get pulled over I ask why and take the ticket, you WILL ONLY MAKE IT MORE EXPENSIVE with time off for court, lawyer, etc.if you TRY to plead your case. The LEO has a gun, badge and JUDGE on his side!!!
