"Illegal" Pipes?

All states may enforce federal law regarding exhaust systems on all vehicles on the road.
In 1978 EPA made it illegal to change any system from its stock OEM parts.
I will repeat. Since 1978 one can not put on aftermarket pipes without having the nanny notice on them that they meet the EPA conditions.
Every notice on the underside of your stock pipes and read the nice message on them?
Very few get caught up in this except the poor souls in the motorcycle only safety checks and a hand full of others that an officer chooses to apply it to.
So, if you modify and play you may have to pay.

Apparently a Florida State Police officer was following me for awhile on my way to work this morning.
He informed me of a couple of things I didn't realize, other than "ALL" police officers don't recognize the official 9 mph over the speed limit grace speed.
First, He was a little upset that I passed a school bus running 45 in a 55 zone and in his estimation, I was going well over 55 mph.
Frankly, If you're not supposed to go over the speed limit when passing in a legal passing zone, then why are there broken lines? I want to get around and back in the right lane asap.
Oh well......
The most disturbing aspect was....Not that my pipes were too loud...Rather my pipes are ILLEGAL because "any alteration of basic stock exhaust is illegal in the state of Florida.
I remarked, well, there are alot of dealers and shpps in Florida that sell illegal products. He then says...You can buy guns too but that doesn't mean you can go out and shoot people.
Wow.
I didn't realize aftermarket pipes were illegal.
I also didn't realize that the federal government can FORCE you to buy a federal product or service.
But, that's what this country is coming to.I believe we're headed for a violent and ugly future.

I am so ready for the violent and ugly future. Thought for sure some of my stress from the past 3 1/2 years would have been relieved last thursday, but now its worse than ever. If we get another 4 years of this ****, something is gonna pop, and im down with that. Cant take the stress anymore.
This kind of delusional thinking and complete lack of knowledge just boggles my mind. How can you even attempt to argue/make a point when your facts are totally wrong? Regardless, why don't you save your rhetoric for the Political section of the forum.

I believe, aftermarket pipes are not illegal. That is like saying you must go to a Chevy dealer to get mufflers for your Malibu. As long as the mufflers perform to OEM standards, you can put what you want on them....(Unless only bikes have to have OEM pipes....(Try to get 1965 OEM pipes, hard to find 1972 Ford Torino pipes at a Ford dealer now-a-days.)
On ANY bike that had catalyst in the exhaust they are indeed ILLEGAL. Your comparison doesn't hold water. Try to take any vehicle made since 1975 to a muffler shop and get them to remove the cat....they won't do it...$25,000 fine.

you simply have no ****ing idea of what you are talking about. regardless of the epa statue, HD dealers have been & continue to R&R the **** stock systems on their bikes and sell HP replacements.
