"Illegal" Pipes?

Not 55 in 45 as you misquoted, but 45 in a 55. It is possible (although very unlikely) that he passed without exceeding the speed limit. He said he wanted to pass as quickly as possible, but the point is that the bus was in fact going 10 mph under the speed limit by the OP's estimation.

another nail hit directly on the head.
I'll go back to a post I made a few back, nobody knows how to read and comprehend before they get the jaws a flappin. All they read was passed school bus, speeding and illegal pipes and and ready to condone the man to life in prison. Hang the S.O.B. how dare ye pass a school bus holding up traffic. Y'all freakin crack me up round here. Ahhaaa,

There is a lot of ignorance in this thread. In Pennsylvania there is indeed 6 mph buffer before a citation may be issued. Also, only the state police may use radar in PA. I find it funny how people talk down to others without knowing the facts.
From the PA Code section 75 ss3368 (c) (4):
3368. Speed timing devices.
(a) Speedometers authorized.--The rate of speed of any
vehicle may be timed on any highway by a police officer using a
motor vehicle equipped with a speedometer. In ascertaining the
speed of a vehicle by the use of a speedometer, the speed shall
be timed for a distance of not less than three-tenths of a mile.
(b) Testing of speedometers.--The department may appoint
stations for testing speedometers and may prescribe regulations
as to the manner in which the test shall be made. Speedometers
shall have been tested for accuracy within a period of 60 days
prior to the alleged violation. A certificate from the station
showing that the test was made, the date of the test and the
degree of accuracy of the speedometer shall be competent and
prima facie evidence of those facts in every proceeding in which
a violation of this title is charged.
(c) Mechanical, electrical and electronic devices
authorized.--
(1) Except as otherwise provided in this section, the
rate of speed of any vehicle may be timed on any highway by a
police officer using a mechanical or electrical speed timing
device.
(2) Except as otherwise provided in paragraph (3),
electronic devices such as radio-microwave devices (commonly
referred to as electronic speed meters or radar) may be used
only by members of the Pennsylvania State Police.
(3) Electronic devices which calculate speed by
measuring elapsed time between measured road surface points
by using two sensors and de vices which measure and calculate
the average speed of a vehicle between any two points may be
used by any police officer.
(4) No person may be convicted upon evidence obtained
through the use of devices authorized by paragraphs (2) and
(3) unless the speed recorded is six or more miles per hour
in excess of the legal speed limit. Furthermore, no person
may be convicted upon evidence obtained through the use of
devices authorized by paragraph (3) in an area where the
legal speed limit is less than 55 miles per hour if the speed
recorded is less than ten miles per hour in excess of the
legal speed limit. This paragraph shall not apply to evidence
obtained through the use of devices authorized by paragraph
(2) or (3) within a school zone or an active work zone.

Your pipes are indeed illegal...actually has nothing to do with Florida...it is federal law. Most Harley shops are not installing aftermarket pipes anymore....it is a $25,000 fine for them to remove catalytic converters...and it is a $2500 fine for you to ride around on the bike without them. California started enforcing these laws...so it is only a matter of time till other states join in....enjoy your pipes while you can

did the OP get a ticket?
i tried reading as much as i could but didn't see a definite answer on that.
reason i ask is lately i've been pulled over a few times and spoken to by police only to have them warn me of things.
for example, i was in my car coming down a main drag by my house that happens to have a section of road labeled "school zone" as it's in front of a school. this section of road is pretty much smack dab in the middle of a 2 mile long main strip, so you can see how faithfully keeping to the 20mph restrictions of said school zone is pretty tough.
long story short, i got pulled over a block past the school and the cop came over to my window, and i had my license and registration on my lap prepared to hand it over. he said "no need, i don't want to look at your papers. just wanted to let you know you were doing 28. on a normal day i wouldn't have even looked twice at you, but the parents here have been complaining so i stopped you to give you a heads up for the future...have a nice day and drive safe".
sometimes they aren't all bad.

I believe, aftermarket pipes are not illegal. That is like saying you must go to a Chevy dealer to get mufflers for your Malibu. As long as the mufflers perform to OEM standards, you can put what you want on them....(Unless only bikes have to have OEM pipes....(Try to get 1965 OEM pipes, hard to find 1972 Ford Torino pipes at a Ford dealer now-a-days.)

Are you serious Bob!!!??? Wild Card has been talking about the fact that people can't comprehend. That they flap their gums without understanding. If you claim to have comprehended then look up the meaning of the word dyslexic. You are quoting him while at the same time not comprehending yourself. Here is a quote from the OP's original post:
Not 55 in 45 as you misquoted, but 45 in a 55. It is possible (although very unlikely) that he passed without exceeding the speed limit. He said he wanted to pass as quickly as possible, but the point is that the bus was in fact going 10 mph under the speed limit by the OP's estimation.
