In my personal opinion

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!! To be able to flat foot it!

I like my bikes lowered ALOT anyway...so I have to sit down on to the bike.....A fan of the pro-street stance![8D]

Joe
LOL ..... I'm about 250pd so most things i sit on have a pro street stance....lol

For me it is very important to flat foot...I do ride a VRSCD Night Rod and I am a 5 foot woman. I had it lowered an inch and the seat shaved down and it is perfect for me. With the bike being 600 lbs, it is important to me to dig my heels in order to back the bike up. I am not sure how you back up a heavy bike without being flat footed without getting off and pushing it back. I know you can compress the forks and rock but being flat footed is important to me.

The more you can "flat foot" the more stable you will be in awkward situations. If you can't flat foot you can get by for a long time but some day under unusual circumstances it will bite you in the ***.

YES...IT IS ABSOFREEKINLUTELY NECCESSARY! Unless of course you perfer to gamble keeping it upright. If she gets herself on a slight grade and goes to put a foot down, it will get off center and she will be in BIG trouble. It's oftenprecarious when youare able to put both feet down firmly, not to mention at least one foot.

Lowering it or getting a thinner seat might be options to bring her feet closer to the ground. An experienced rider CAN do it ... but you'll have to be able to do it each and every time you put your feet down.I know there has been a few "oopidaizies" for me and I can easily plant my feet flat.... Sliding on gravel, or having oil on your shoe are other hazards we have to worry about ... planting a foot firmly is just betterthan tippie toeing ... period!

In all seriousness, I think you need to get at least a good portion of both feet on the ground. The bigger the bike, the more feet need to be on the street...

I was able to flat foot on my standard until I switched seats. I wasn't quite tippy toed, but I didn't have a full flat foot like I used to. I did not like the feeling at all. Plus, when I was backing up my bike and my foot slipped andI almost lay her down. Now that my seat has broken in, I'm a bit more stabilized, but not enough. I'm lowering my bike for looks as well as foot stability.

I've seen a couple of tippy toed riders and don't want to be near them when they reach a stop where there is a badly crowned road.
