Harley Davidson Leather Jacket

Harley Davidson Leather Jacket
I have a leather jacket I bought back in the early 90s. It has a leather strip in the middle of it with zippers on both sides. If you unzip both sides, it stays attached the right flap by four Harley Davidson snaps. These can be unsnapped so you can completely remove the leather strip and make the jacket about an inch and a half smaller.
My problem is I need the jacket about 4" bigger. Any idea where I can order a larger replacement leather strip for this jacket?

Good idea never seen that before, pity they're all not made that way, I would think if you want a bigger piece put in a leather shop is your only option, I should think there's a lot of indies about who make jackets, vests and do repairs on leather stuff.

If you have a good cobbler/shoe repair shop, they can easily make a strap for you, with brass eyelets, snaps, whatever hardware you need, they can find it - although it's going to be new and not vintage - at least until you wear it for another forty years!
Our cobbler repairs luggage, handbags, you wouldn't believe what people bring into him. Heck, he can even put your patches on for you...

+1 on the Captain. Good people and good workmanship.

We could probably do it but..I would suggest that maybe you can find someone locally so that they could match the grain and thickness of the leather. It would also be great if you were there to get the fit correct..

There used to be a vendor that advertised in the back pages of Easy Rider and other similar mags. Next time you can get your hands on one check to see if they're still around. I bought one and it worked well, but that was probably 20+ years ago.
