that makes sense the factory dose things like that, a buddy has a 84 low rider it’s a shovel with a belt drive no kidding, when he brought it he thought he was luckie until he grenaded the tranny, ever try to get a 4 speed box for a belt drive shovel ? it didn’t happen he got a 5 speed instead.
Was that the Daytona model with the orange-lettered tires?

hay let me find a pic, no it was a stock looking shovel only with a 4 speed and belt drive, I think he got it in july of 84, so it was a late model, you offten see something about trannys for shovels (not for belt-drives)

let me see I think I can find one

Didn't they use the same 4 speed kick & electric start tranny as the earlier 81 FXB Sturgis model with belts for the primary and final drives?

The first one is a shot of the open primary if you look close to the right, behind the clutch, see the belt ? notice the cyl in the same shot.

The second shot shows the right side of the shovel notice that 5 speed

Daytona model, that was good, but didn't the triumph daytona come with orange lettered tires ? : - )

I added a third pic, this is his new belt while he was installing his 5 speed, he replace his original belt, since he had a hole in it.
