I don't think these folks are associated with the AMA. Emphasize "think".

Anyone who rides should probably support the AMA. They are the largest motorcycle riding organization in the world and have some influence in the world of politics. They've been involved in trying to get federal funding for motorcycle only checkpoints stopped.

I think the AMR did get AMA sanctioning, It's a endurance challege similar to the hoka hey
and yeah the rally in davenport is a good time, although it's not on the river anymore it's up on the hill at the fairgrounds
