Good thinking.

Sad fact is that A bike wreck will often kill, maim or injure the passenger.

Take a passenger only when you are BOTH willing to accept that risk.

I just started riding two weeks ago, bought this harley crossbones and love it. it's a big heavy bike with a 1584cc motor and I have no problem riding anywhere on it. it's super comfy too. Ive done six hours in one day. I sat on at least 20 bikes before I picked this one. there's nothing wrong with a Harley as a first bike. it has saddlebags and they make a windshield for it. You can ride two on it too.(when you're ready) I plan on modifying a fairing for it too. So it's better for touring. Ps I'm 6'4" 230lbs. there's plenty of leg room for guys bigger than me too.

I wonder why more people don't go to a dealership and "try out" bikes to see how they fit on them, rather than ask here? I don't get it.

I had that reaction myself. I am a basketball guy. I am 6'2" and I NEVER have thought of myself as tall.

Sorry for jumping on you too dude...like has been said. Pretty much any Harley is going to fit you. I would stay away from sportsters, but if that is all you can swing I think you will be o.k.
