Default best helmet?

I have decided (with all the helmet talk) that I am going to purchase a couple of helmets for my better half and myself. I want her to wear one, and she has no problem with that, but expects the same from me. I really don't want to be scolded on how uncool they are, just looking for opinions on the most comfortable DOT helmet. I am well aware of the Carbon Fiber choices, but I am interested in others as well. I have been told the HJC AC2 open face helmet is decent. Any suggestions? I want to do it right the first time.
Thanks.[&:]

I don't see how people can wear those big DOT lids. I have use one once and it hurt my neck, I am novelty all of the way.

I really did not want to get into tis discussion, but here I go.[:'(]My opinion is if I were going to wear a novelty helmet, why wear one at all? Like I said, I live in a non helmet law state. Only reason I am considering is for safety. Too many cages taking out MC around here. []

My buddy has one and really likes it. I am thinking about getting one myself and would also like to hear some other opinions on them.
