Default Bike broke down but let me tell ya what I'm really mad!

Yes the voltage regulator went out 1300 miles away from home on my 2012 FLHTK. Just happened to be in Key West 175 miles away from the nearest dealership. Called the dealer and he said he could take care of it. Great right? Wrong! He said that the tow would be expensive (three to four hundred). I said who cares, its the motor companies bill. Nope its my bill. Her did tell me that if I was a hog member that would take care of a hundred of that. What really pisses me off is if I bought a high end auto and broke down within the first fifteen hundred miles anywhere in the continental United States that company would take care of that bill.I know this because I have been in the towing business for twenty years.

Things break, even new things. The moco will fix what's broken at their expense but it's not their place to pay for your tow bill. Harley's are not like a high end car.

Does your insurance have a tow policy?

Well, that sucks, but unfortunately, you DIDN'T buy a high end auto.

My suggestion: AAA RVPlus

My insurance is foremost and they covered my towing bill of $230. Much better deal than HOG. I think HOG is also good for only once in a twelve month period.

Here's a chance for an enterprising individual. Set up a Harley repair shop say on Marathon Key or even an Indy for motorcycles. One could send a driver to the main land for parts and repair will be done. Anybody see $$$$$?

Wouldn't know, I've never owned a high end auto. I think if I did I probably wouldn't worry about a $400 tow bill.

Maybe you'd have better luck with a BMW

But seriously, I feel bad for your misfortune. Road trips can be expensive sometimes. Wife had a flat on her Deluxe on one trip. Had AAA RVplus so the tow to the local dealer was free. But the new tire cost us $400+. Can you imagine shelling out that kind of money to have a new car tire put on .
