safer to go faster, slower, or equal to speed limit
just wondering your opinion of whether its safer to be going the speed limit, faster than the speed limit or slower than the speed limit.
my opinion is that its really based on the speed of traffic.
and then i usually attempt to go a bit faster than the majority of traffic.
i don't have to be the fastest.
but i feel that going at a different speed then most cars, then i will be more easily seen then if i am going the same speed. at the same speed they can become complacent with where i am at. whereas if i go faster than i am coming up on them and if (big if) they are checking their mirrors at all they will at some point notice me. plus you see a moving object better than a still object. if i go the same speed as them i am a still object in relation to them.
should i go slower than traffic then i am holding traffic up and forcing them to bunch up while they all try to get around me. some will most probably be tailgating me.
so whats your opinion

With traffic. You'll get creamed doing the speed limit on the highways around here. On other roads it varies with conditions and traffic. I'm not a speed demon, though sometimes 35mph on some roads is just too slow.

No ****! WTF is it with kids these days? Then they wonder why they can't get a job because they fill out an application using "texting lingo".

On a busy highway/interstate, I tend to go with the flow so as not to have people riding up my azz all the time. Speed up to get ahead of groups of semis, especially in the mountainous regions of PA, and once I find a spot that is not too congested, I'll use whatever speed I need to stay there. On local back roads with little/no traffic I go at the speed that feels right, which is usually a little bit faster than that which is posted.

The safest thing is to not be passed by or to be passing anyone. I like to find a nice open space and hang out there going as fast or slow as I have to.
BTW, people driving under the speed limit on Interstates is incredibly unsafe.

This is exactly what I do. Cars like to travel in packs for some reason. I find that there is usually 2-300 yards of unused roadway between the guys hauling *** and riding each others' bumpers and the slow pokes. That's where I'll be. I stick my neck out and haul *** when I need to get around an upcoming group of slow pokes and then I'm back in the middle or right lane cruising in the open space.
