Harley Visa reward Card
My wife is trading in her motorcycle for a new Harley. Has anyone here used their reward card to pay part or all of the purchase price of their motorcycle? I wanted to use mine to pay $10,000 of the cost so I could build up my rewards. I use the card all of the time for the past five years and have never paid one cent of interest because I pay the bill in full every month.
The salesman said he didn't know if they were allow to do that much with the credit card. He would get back with me. Hell, I would be spending the reward money with them.

IT all depends on the limit. I don't see why the wouldn't you might have to call and let them know that a big purchase is coming.
If I don't on my American Express I get a phone call asking why I have 10k in flights booked.

It's all negotiable.
On my last one the HD visa points card was an after thought while we were doing the paperwork, they limited it to 4k.
I'm sure had I told them upfront the purchase was contingent upon charging the whole thing , they would have done it. Of course, the arriving to the final price might have ended up different. Like I said it's all negotiable.

When you pull out the card, the dealer may squawk. They have to pay a fee on all credit card purchases so it comes out of his margin. You can always give him a touch chit look, but on 10 grand the dealer fee will be a big enough number for him to question it.

Yea they lose about 3% when you whip out the card, 10k costs them 300 bucks.
If you are going to pay cash but want more bargaining power, finance it and pay it off right away. They get a 1% kick back for financing.

A friend of mine had the cash to pay for his Tri Glide last year. He charged the trike on his Harley Visa, paid the balance as soon as he got the bill and earned the points.

I think my dealer has a limit to how much he'll let you charge on a credit card, but I certainly wouldn't be shy about using it to the max, if I were so inclined. Points are points, IMHO.

I paid for my Limited in full on my Amex card. This told me I could have negotiated a better price with the dealer. I did get a 1.5 percent cash rebate.
