Default Brake pad mileage

How many miles are you getting out of a set of brake pads on a 2010-2012 flhtc Electra glide? front and rear no antilock system.

I'm getting great mileage from my front brakes, 12.5k miles and less than half worn. However, although I thought I didn't use my rears quite as much as the fronts, the last time I had the bike in for some warranty work, the rears were worn to a point of needing to be replaced.

Since I'm heading out on a 2-3k mile trip here at the end of June, I've replaced them. Never thought I'd wear out brake pads prior to wearing out the tire, but still have plenty of tread left on both front and rears.

My rear brakes on the 07 wore out at around 25,000 miles, but since then (40,000 miles) they're wearing pretty good. Might get 50,000 out of them. The front brakes will usually wear longer because there are two brakes doing the work.

I use both front and rear brakes most all the time, using rear only for gentle stops near a full stop, or to hold on a hill. I am not a rider who pushes for performance all the time, having been a professional (smooth) driver most of my life.

Kind of like asking "how many licks to get to the center of a tootsie pop" It all varies upon the rider, terrain traveled, and riding style. my .02

Last week I got a flat on my back tire. While they were changing the tire they saw that the rear breaks pads were worn down to about 1/16th of an inch. I always use front and back brakes. 08 EGC with 15,000 miles.

Needed new pads in the rear when I had the 15000 mile service on my 11 RKC. They were doing a Virginia safety inspection (required annually) and told me they were worn below the level needed to pass.

Your rear caliper must be hung up or something. I can't believe they wore out that fast.
I'm riding an 08 dyna. I ride pretty aggressively, stop hard and I use the rear brake much more than the front. In fact I rarely use the front unless I'm really trying to stop quickly.
I've got 32000 on my bike. The fronts still have 3/4 of the pad and the rears are just below half of new.
I've got new brake pads that I compared the width of the friction pads against each other.
I'm still awestruck that a members brakes wore out before the tire.

Ive only got about 300 miles on my ride so I can't really be of much help but for some reason I couldn't pass up the tootsie pop question.
