RE: Gas mileage
I guess it depends how you ride.........I was getting pretty close to 55 MPG when I had my 04 Softail STD. I'm not getting that much with my 05 Heritage but she's not broken in yet....

My 05 Springer Classic has got 40mpg. since day one of course the only time I check it is when Im on a run, as soon as the tripmeter hit's 160mi. the gas light comes on and it will take 4gal. on the button every time.

RE: Gas mileage
I notice that some aren't as lucky with the mpg as I am. To me as long as I got reasonable mileage I would be happy because I didn't buy my Harley for the mileage, I bought it because I wanted it, the mpg was just an extra bonus.

RE: Gas mileage
Yep Springer that the same way I look at it, I can live with 40mpg.on the S.C. I figure pushing that windshield has got to suck up a bit of fuel right there. And its sort of funny but my 87 with pistons, cam, head work and 2 1/4" porker pipes get's 55mpg. now try and figure that one out.

Howdy JB, I can't figure it out either, but by the looks of it, I wouldn't mind sitting on it and see how it felt. I like the looks, enjoy the ride.

I also have an '05 Deluxe. I am getting 38-40 mpg on it. My husband used to get 45 mpg on the Heritage with two of us on it. I have been surprised that this bike isn't getting as good mpg actually.
But it may well be a breaking in thing and how it is ridden. I do have the King sized windshield on this bike too.

RE: Gas mileage
ok i have even a bigger question...my bike 04 s.e. electra glide. before my last trip my low fuel light was coming on at 160 miles. i took my bike in to be shipped and had the 5000 mi service done. i picked up the bike in denver and during my entire trip i was getting over 200 miles before the light came on. on the down side tho the bike wasnt running real good. here's the question...
do you think something happened when they serviced the bike or do you think the pinging and increased fuel econmy was because i live in fl, and then was riding in colorado at a higher altitude?

RE: Gas mileage
Enzo,
I also was getting around 130 miles from a tank at first. by the 4th tank I got 160 miles. There is 3k on the odo now and I can claim 180 miles when the low light flickers on. Keep riding it and eventually the milage should get better. Like you need this as an excuse to ride.
