I find it somewhat humorous that it was a Harley Davidson and not a Japanese motorcycle. I mean really, what are the odds of ANY motorcycle drifting across the Pacific ocean all the way from Japan AND that it would be an American motorcycle that made the trip?

You would be surprised ... they love their Harley Davidsons over there. Remember before WW2 they had a plant over there. Our troops encountered Japanese versions of side valve configurations during the island hopping.
They were used all over Japan as service vehicles. I think they kept producing the bikes all the way up to the late 50's.
