I have a modulator on my bike. A light sensor turns it off at night. If I'm riding in a group and I'm not up front, I turn it off.

The reason I found these particular modulating headlights so annoying is how freaking large they were. They were much bigger than a Harley headlight. They are double, foot-long flashing lights, incredibly bright.

I don't care for Harley modulators, but I wouldn't have seen them in the middle of the car pack. This was in bright daylight. So I am not knocking HD modulators.

Alas it was just a guy on a huge Goldwing trike. It already had huge headlights, probably on bright, and flashing. because this guy is worried about his visibility, he made me pay attention to him, instead of looking for deer, or other business, in my lane.

If you need a trike with flashing lights to feel safe, get a truck.

Flame away.

Loud pipes bring attention to your bike. That's good, right?
"loud pipes save lives!"

Headlight modulators bring attention to your bike. That's bad, right?
"They are so annoying!"

The modulator prevented you from looking for deer (?), or other business, in your lane? I guess loud pipes might have distracted you also, but chances are that they would have scared the deer away, so they obviously win the safety equipment award.

BTW, you can turn a modulator on & off as needed. It doesn't have to be on all the time, unlike loud pipes.
