Bad One in Springfield, MO Yesterday
Don't read until later if you don't want to ruin a good day.
I still can't get the sick feeling out of my stomach after coming across this yesterday. Cager hit another cager sending him across the median and directly into an Ultra Classic carrying two people. Both people on the Harley were killed instantly. Never had a chance. Two more riders on Triumphs also went down in the wreck.
I am a police chaplain so I stopped to render assistance. Here is the news release from our department. Link to video below that.
Springfield Police are investigating a fatality traffic crash in west Springfield. About 1:15 pm this afternoon [Saturday] a 2008 Nissan Quest van and a 1996 Chevrolet Suburban were traveling northbound on the West By Pass when they collided. This contact caused the Suburban to cross over the raised median into the southbound lanes of travel where it struck a southbound 2012 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle head on. The Suburban then rotated and was struck by a 2002 Toyota Tundra also southbound. There were two more motorcycles, both 2012 Triumphs, also traveling southbound behind the pickup who both tried to avoid the pickup but could not and struck the pickup.
Both occupants of the Harley Davidson were ejected and died at the scene. The occupants of the other two motorcycles, the Suburban, and pickup were all transported to local hospitals but at this time they are not believed to have life threatening injuries.
Springfield Police are not releasing the names of the two deceased motorcyclists pending positive identification and notification of family.
The investigation is ongoing.

That is terrible. My girlfriend is taking the motorcycle safety class at a dealership in Rogers, AR., and her parents are totally against her riding a bike. They watch KY-3 and this won't help matters much.
We didn't here of the news ourselves. Our prayers go out to the deceiced' families and the injured.

Thats horrible, what a freak accident. I wish there family well in these tragic times. Hopefully the family feels some kind of peace knowing they went out together doing something they loved with the one they loved.

I ride through that area a few times a year. Cheryl and I postponed a trip through there last week due to work. We're hopefully heading down next week. We'll be two people on a 2011 Ultra. Chilling.
Prayers to the victims and families.
