Default Rental insurance.

Hi. I'm taking a trip to the Black Hills this summer and plan on renting a bike for a day or two.
The guy I talked to at Black Hills Harley told me I need to bring extra insurance as they offer only $2000 deductible.
My insurance company in Manitoba only offers extra rental insurance for cars and not bikes.
My credit card is the same and I also tried CAA with the same result.
Any one out there that has been in this predicament and found a solution?
I really don't think I would enjoy riding with a $2000 deductible.
We are going with another couple (non riders) so renting is my best option to ride while I'm there.
Anyone from Manitoba ever had the same problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Stateside, most policies cover a rental vehicle as though it was your own. So the deductible on your bike policy will apply.

Have you asked your agent about this?

From my experience, this is not typically the case with most motorcycle insurance. Unlike auto insurance, motorcycle policies generally do not cover rentals.

Take the insurance when you rent. It's usually around $25/day and depending on the dealer, you're either covered from the first dollar up to a $2000 gap. If the dealer you spoke with leaves you on the hook for the first $2000, try another dealer. Should be able to find one at the $1000 level.

I have State Farm and when I rented a bike for a couple days (out of state) I ask my agent and he told me that I was insured with the exact same coverage as my own bike. Maybe it varies by state.
