My face and lips burn and I cannot deal with burned lips, bugs can get bad, on the highway the cages kick up enough dirt to feel like I'm being sandblasted. And in reality it's cooler with it covering my face as it keeps the sun off.
I'm not trying to hide my identity or anything. I even will wear a long sleeve t shirt on long rides so my arms don't get burned.

I wear one because of bugs and other small **** flying at my face while on the freeway. Plus I like to breathe through my mouth and that means bugs have an easy entrance. Not with a bandana though.

I occasionally wear one when it's cold. Helps keep the sting of cold air off my face.

Rotten Dumptrucks with their loads un-covered.
Around here they're doing 50 on Cherokee road where the speed is 30.
It's like an old Seuss story.

Only time I have ever worn one was on those early spring or late fall trips when I didn't have my full face and the temp got chilly on the face in the morning or late evening. Of course, now that I have a fairing, I don't have to worry about it any longer.

Non-riders always think you're trying to be a cool bandit or something. Never knowing it's for very specific needs.

Bugs , a lot of sand like road litter or rain only reason to do it otherwise it's some newbie tool getting his pretend gangsta freak on playing " Dig Me " for the masses , usually the same types that sit at lights and rap the hell outa the bike so everyone can hear his macho cool pipes .
