Default Keys and owner's manual

I received my 2011 FLHR last night, for my fellow Canadians looking to ship up a bike, TFX International did a great job.

I have a couple of questions though:

1. How many keys does the bike come with? I just received one. Should there be a second key and security fob?

2. Is the owner's manual stored somewhere on the bike? I checked the side covers quickly but didn't see anything.

Thanks in advance.

Adrian

You should definitely have two keys and key fobs. Was this a new bike, or used? As far as the owners manual I have no idea, but if new it should have one. I would look into getting another key made. If you give the dealer the VIN of the bike, or the key code if you have it, they will be able to make you another key.

Thanks.

I bought the bike used, but from a HD dealer. I figured I'd check with the experts here first before calling them.

I have to say two keys as well. The security fob would only come if their is a security package installed and/or not disabled on the bike. So, depending on your situation, you might not be getting the fob/s.

I only received 1 key and 1 Fob when I bought my Fatboy used from a dealer. Easy enough to order a backup set of both. Mine didn't come with an owners manual either, but then again I didn't ask for one.

I have security, and a single fob. Just wondering if there should be two, if bought new...

Same with the owners manual. On my last bike (Honda Shadow) the manual was stored behind a side cover, wasn't sure if it was the same for Harley's

They should have that stuff for you, or able to get it for you. The salesman didn't know where my stuff was so they gave me a packet with a manual and other stuff, one key (ordered two more for me), and sent me on my way.

Got home and looked in the saddle bags and there was the manual and other key. So I have two manuals, and four keys.

If you don't get this stuff, let me know and I'll send you my extra manual.

Thanks Danny, that's greatly appreciated. My contact at the dealer just got back to me and said he's forwarded my concerns to the sales manager, so hopefully they'll have everything for me.

Not a problem. Let me know if they tank on ya. It's just sitting here collecting dust.

My honda shadow(previous bike to my Harley) came with the owners manual behind the side cover along with a tool kit(both were still there when I traded it in, along with the spare key I gave them). My new harley came with two keys and an owners manual handed to me as there is no side cover with my Softail Deluxe.

Kinda surprised they don't give owners manuals with used bikes. I mean I understand they may not get the original one from previous owner but would think they are easy enough for a dealer to get ahold of that they'd get one for each bike they sell to give the new owner. I do understand that most times people trading in their Harley, don't think to have the spare key and owners manual with them. I'm sure some do, as I would if I ever traded for a different model HD(don't ever see that happening but you never know).
