When you spend 17k on a used bike from a dealer I still expect them to ensure there's an owners manual.

Either way dealer is mailing one out to me. Now just trying to get them to send me another key & fob.

Thanks for all the help guys.

if the dealer backs out on the key, if you dont have a locksmith nearby that makes barrel keys for a reasonable cost, look up the part number for the tourpak lock. you order that with your code off the key you do have (you might have to pull off the black plastic cover) and you will get the lock and 2 keys. but it runs less than $20 if you get it from one of the discounters, which is cheaper than what the dealer charges for keys.

New bikes come with two fobs and keys, but I bet when you buy a used bike from a dealer you'll get one of each and be told "that's all we got with it". Otherwise they probably lose the sale of spare fob and key(!)

When I traded in a previous bike I had every piece of paperwork with it, original purchase ticket, all service records, all extra and add on purchase tickets along with instructions or any other paperwork that came with it, owners manual, service manual, and all keys. I like having that stuff so I know exactly whats there, been done, and I don't have to buy the books if its already there. When I signed the paperwork on new bike I handed the guy my old keys and a nice binder with all that stuff in it. He asked what it was, I told him for the next owner. He flipped thru it then pitched it in his trash can and said they won't need any of that.

When buying used, you normally get what the PO gave the dealer.

Lots of dealers do it with used cars as well. I always check during the test drive most cars will have floor mats and an owners manual. As you go to sign the paperwork they will have someone take the car to fill it with gas, or clean it. For some funny reason they are gone when the car comes back.

Bought ours new and I got two key and two fobs and owners Manual, bike came with factory security.

Had to buy Shop Manual.

U need to call the dealer U purchased from and see if they have the other items U should have gotten..???

That the issue with buying used. some prev owners don't turn in all the extra items that goes with bike...

Worst is the SERT tuner,, if it was tuned with one.. If they don't get the needed tuner that goes with the bike, Then Ur SOL on getting it ever tuned again, unless/untill U buy a new one.

I think some dealers do this on purpose to sell another unit. Just IMO.

Of course the dealer blames the previous owner -- "That's all we have, but you really better buy another fob and spare key or you might be SOL one of these days!"

FWIW, I'm gonna purchase a spare fob from the dealer, but I had a local locksmith make a couple of spare keys yesterday for my '07 FLSTN -- cost me $5 each.

I wonder how much your local dealer is going to charge you to "marry" the new fob to your bike?
