Rolling thunder, dc 2012 -- who's going?

You don't have to do the ride (protest) if you don't want. I'm just going to hang out with some guys I served in Iraq with..kick back some beers and stir up trouble. We are going down on the 24th and leaving on the 27th. We are staying in a 1/2 star hotel in the Vienna, VA with a lot of other Combat Vet Assoc. guys. We might have the entire hotel from what I hear. Should be a blast!

It can be slow. But then again, I've been on runs where you had to do 65-70 around blind turns to keep up / not get run over. I didn't like that much. Just think, after this run you might win the "who can go 60 feet in the slowest time without putting their feet down" contest. For real though, a couple nights in DC and vendors galore are enough incentive to go. If you don't want to do the ride you don't have to.

Might go to this one. Wife's going to be up in New York on the USS Wasp for Fleet Week, leaves me home alone. Don't have to worry about being on duty over a holiday weekend since I retired from the Navy last year.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Wonder what time I'd have to leave Norfolk to get there in time.

This will be my fourth year in a row, but this time with my wife on the trike. IMHO this is not a tough ride, not slow and not an hour. Like the man said - 20-30 minutes max at 30-40 mph. Less accordion than on most PGR rides. There are always goof ***** out there you got to watch out for.

Leaving the Pentagon parking lot is a pain, depending how far back you are. If you do not stay in DC after riding the route, I-66 can be a parking lot. The high point of the ride is the Marine greeting all of the riders as you come into DC.

I did it last year with no problem and I was still wet behind the ears. If you want to wait that's fine, but it's nothing that requires great riding abilities.
