The stator went out on my 06 Street Bob 6 weeks after the warranty ran out... SIX WEEKS!!! Moco wouldn't do anything for me and it cost me $1200. Still pisses me off. I know a cutoff is a cutoff, but it still PISSES ME OFF!!!

My buddy just had to replace the voltage regulator on his '08 Screamin Eagle Ultra with about 35K miles on it.

Found out that on older bikes, if the regulator went, it took the stator with it. Some number of years ago H-D wised up and put a breaker on the stator line so that if the regulator went, the breaker would trip instead of taking the stator with it.

Wondering if anyone has replaced both when in fact all that was needed was a new regulator and breaker reset?

Stator problem on a Harley? Go figure, they only put it in the worst possible location you can. Horrible design which has become standard on the Vtwins, since...well forever.

I've had 3 stator failures, first at 24K, then 50K and again at 62K miles.
Finally got wise and installed a Cycle Electric stator, side by side the difference in build quality is obvious. I've had enough of the Chinese junk.

Aww that's nice a gay joke.....how long did it take you to come up with that one? After owning two Harleys I have earned the right to voice my opinion on them so F off Tex.

Has nothing to do with Chinese junk since there isn't anything to a stator really, but it does have everything to do with the placement of them, and that is where Harley continues to fail. The rate at which you replace them only goes to prove that since it has shown that they are only good for anywhere between 15 and 20K miles
